Membership And Registration

1. Membership
  1. Membership of the Party shall be open to every citizen of Nigeria irrespective of his/her religion, ethnic group, place of birth, sex, social or economic status.
  2. Application for membership shall be made on an individual basis.
  3. A person applying to be a member shall not be below the age of 18 years and not belong to another Political Party and if a member, has resigned his/her membership.
  4. He/she shall not be a member of the Armed Forces, Police, Security Agencies, Para-military organs, the Public Service of the Federation, State, Local Government/Area Council or a secret society without however any prejudice to the provision of the Nigerian Constitution.
  5. A person shall upon registration pay the prescribed registration and/or membership fees; and
  6. He/she shall accept the aims, objectives, principles, fundamental values, policies and programmes of the Party.
2. Registration
  1. Every application for membership shall be made in the prescribed form duly signed or thumb printed by the applicant.
  2. Registration of members shall be at the Wards, or on the party’s online portal or any other authorized places as may be prescribed by the Party
  3. Every member shall upon registration be required to subscribe to an oath of loyalty and commitment to the Party, and shall be required to fill an oath form affixed with two recent passport photographs which shall be kept in the member’s personal file to be opened at the place of registration.
  4. A Nigerian citizen who is temporarily resident outside Nigeria may apply to be a member of the Party with the authorized diaspora branch of the Party of his choice or through the party’s portal.
  5. A register of members shall be maintained at each of the Party’s Secretariat namely, Ward, Local Government Area, State, the portal and National and shall be updated periodically.
3. Rights And Obligations Of Members
  1. Qualifications for membership shall from time to time be prescribed by the National Think Thank Committee of the Party or any other body authorized to do so by the National Think Thank Committee or the National Convention.
  2. Upon registration, a member shall be deemed to have:
    1. Accepted to abide by the provisions of this Constitution as well as the policies, programmes and ideals of the Party;
    2. Accepted to abide by all lawful rules, regulations, directives and decisions of the Party or any of its organs; and
    3. Accepted to promote the principles, aims and objectives of the Party and to refrain from pursuing any course of action that may be inconsistent with or inimical to the interest of the Party.
  3. Every member shall have the right to participate in the activities and discussions of the branch of the Party to which he/she is a member, subject to any qualification, rules and regulations or provisions of this Constitution.
  4. Every member shall be free to contest any elective post in the Party and shall have a right to be sponsored by the Party for all elective public offices as prescribed by the Constitution of Nigeria, or any other law Provided that the member shall be qualified under the Party Constitution and Nigerian Constitution to contest for such elective position.
  5. Every member shall have a right to vote or be voted for in any elective office or position in the Party Provided that in the exercise of the right to be voted for, such member shall be an active and financial member for a period of at least six months before the date at the election.
  6. The provisions of sub-paragraph (5) above may be waived if in the opinion of the National Leadership of the Party it is in the best interest of the Party to do so.
  7. All first elections to any elective office in the Party at all levels immediately after the coming into effect of this Constitution shalt not be subject to the provision of sub-paragraph (v) above.
4. Loss Of Membership
  1. A member may lose his/her membership where:
    1. He/she resigns or dies;
    2. He/she consistently refuses or neglects to fulfill his/her financial obligations to the Party;
  2. Where a member loses his/her membership in accordance with the provision of paragraph 1 (2) above, he/she may be re-admitted into the Party if he/she clears the indebtedness to the Party or if in the opinion of the National Leadership of the Party he/she has furnished sufficient reasons for his/her re-admission
