APC, SDP members defect to AA in Ondo

Some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Social Democratic Party, SDP yesterday defected to Action Alliance, AA at the Southwest zonal meeting of the party held in Akure the Ondo State capital.

The defectors who were received by the National Chairman of the Party, Hon Dr Adekunle Rufai Omoaje spread across different local government areas of the state.

Others were members of the non-governmental organization The Great Vision who were until recently members of the Social Democratic Party in Osun State.

According to the new AA members, they decided to join the party because of their love for the masses, saying Action Alliance is the only party that has the interest of the downtrodden masses of Nigeria at heart.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Prince Adegoroye Oladimeji who is a former leader of the APC stated that they were tired of the ruling party as the welfare of the masses is not being taken care of.

He declared that the ruling party has failed to deliver the dividends of democracy to the masses, adding that the APC has thus failed the people.

Responding, Hon Adekunle Omoaje said the party would not discriminate against the new members as all members of the party including the defectors would be given the opportunity to thrive politically and treated equally.
